Grayson College Board Member Resigns

Grayson College Board of Trustee member Ralph Jones submitted a letter of resignation this
week following a regular meeting of the board. Jones has served on the board for nearly 50 years
and even served on committees that first evaluated the need for a junior college in the area.

“It has been my privilege to serve on the Grayson Board of Trustees and see the progress being
made at the college,” Jones said in his resignation letter. “Grayson College is so important to our area.”

At this week’s meeting, the board was asked to appoint members to the Standing Committee for
Board Member Replacement. The appointed board members include – Ronnie Cole, Dr. Debbie
Plyler and Dr. Mack Broiles. The committee will be tasked with honing and executing the
process for identifying a replacement. Jones will continue to serve in his board member capacity
until the vacancy has been filled.

“I have an immense admiration for Trustee Jones’ heart for service and a life dedicated to
making this amazing place what it is today,” GC President Dr. Jeremy McMillen said.
The college recently named its new residence hall after Trustee Jones in honor of his many years
of service to the college.

“It was overwhelming and the last thing that I would have ever expected,” Jones said. “It was a
wonderful dedication and reception. It meant so much to our family.”

Jones was also awarded the City of Denison’s Moving Forward, Giving Back Award last year in
honor of his constant presence and support of the college. Former Denison Mayor Jared Johsnon
credited Jones for his ability to take his banking industry skills and invest in the students of
Grayson County.
